With word that the S&A was leading 20Q, I made an impromptu run out to the nearest spot from home, Rootstown, to catch it. Some stone piles here make for a nice elevated vantage point.

As the sun starts to set on Norfolk Southerns West Slope on the Pittsburgh Line, 538 grinds its way uphill under the 257 signals with a set of helpers ahead and a 4 pack on the rear.
With 20Q visible far across the Alleghenies, the helpers give some dynamic braking to assist in the long decent into Altoona.
