The Artesia train eases out of the north end of Montgomery's West End Yard, headed for Tuscaloosa, AL and Artesia, MS behind 706 and a quartet of Paducah rebuilds.
While these mating worms have lasted longer than the parent railroad they represented, their deterioration is a good example of how tough life got on that railroad in the mid-70s.
