On the way back to Alamosa after a trip to Monte Vista, #1744 crosses a small trestle. The SL&RG ran a series of trips from Alamosa To Monte Vista as part of the rodeo being held last weekend.

The San Luis & Rio Grande have been advertising a train operating between Alamosa and Antonito to provide a connection with the narrow gauge Cumbres and Toltec. This is that train.

On the flatland of the San Luis Valley, the former SP engine moves this train at about 50 mph.
