Engine 487 is preparing for the days run up Cumbres Pass to the summit just outside the engine house.
Carlos Llamas and the 487 had spent the day hauling passengers, so when it came time to dump ballast west of Antonito the sun was getting low.
Climbing to 10,015' above sea level at the pass in Cumbres, the 487 & 484 team up to challenge the unrelenting 4% climb from Chama.
