GM&O came in from the northwest, A bit player on a large stage in those days, a little shabby and run down but what great character. In the immortal words of Tom Sink, a “soulful old road”.

1051's beautiful coat of GM&O red is almost shot - faded to a sickly pink in some places, sluffing off to reveal the original Illinois Terminal green in others.

The daily train to Artesia is a few miles out of Montgomery's West End Yard as it curves away from US31. A few hundred feet ahead is the big bridge over the Alabama River.
