After stopping in Las Vegas, Amtrak #3 splits the semaphore signals just outside of town as it makes it's way to the west coast.

Amtrak's eastbound Southwest Chief splits a pair of intermediate semaphore signals near Las Vegas, N.M., eastbound on BNSF Railway's main line between Santa Fe, N.M., and Trinidad, Colo.

Westbound on the Raton Line. I believe this is the DENBAR (Denver to Barstow) train that at one time was about the only daylight freight movement you could count on.

Pole lines used to get in the way of good train pix. Now that they are fast disappearing it's nice to find one reasonably intact. Not to mention the blades.
