This is the 2nd trio of SD40's I've caught on the CP in as many days. Here, three bring the 490 into Glenwood yard past the siding at Forada.

The setting sun kisses the flanks of two Soo Line veterans as they approach Forada with train 290.

After a long wait in the siding for the tardy 290, a frustrated crew are back underway at WSS Forada.

Just less than 10 miles into their trip to Thief River Falls, a westbound manifest takes the siding to let the 290 pass on the main.

CP 5947 and twin CP 5909 head up the 290 just north of Forada. Though they are less than 10 miles from the end of their trip, they still have to meet a westbound before terminating in Glenwood. ... (more)
