Rounding the curve, here's a glimpse of Amtrak's Southwest Chief #3 moments prior to ascending Glorieta Pass on an absolutely gorgeous mid-September afternoon.

Amtrak 118 leads the westbound California Zephyr through the low lying dust of a gravel road as the crew gives my camera some waves. Chillicothe, IA on the BNSF Ottumwa Subdivision.

As the outbound Illinois Zephyr highballs wrong main, Metra arrives at the Hinsdale station.

Heading for Alexandria

Northbound Amtrak 118 pulls the Coast Starlight with a Iowa Pacific dome car on the end across the Gaviota trestle on a winters day.

The southbound Coast Starlight finishes the finally boarding before leaving Seattle King Street Station according to the timetable at 0945.

Amtrak 5 rolls through the S curve just west of Tolland on its way west.

The Empire Builder heads along the mighty Mississippi river with St. Paul in the backround headed for Chicago.

Running 44 minutes late Amtrak's Empire Builder runs through Newport at track speed. I find it thrilling to be standing next to a train rolling this fast past you!

A 6-hour late Train 11 finally arrives into San Jose just as Train 742 departs on a clear. Shot with permission from the doorway of an open door on the cabcar.
