An early morning double header, lead by a 14CRB class Mountain, storms past the semaphors at Oudtshoorn, on the way towards the Montagu pass.
It's just after sun up and a group of locals wait for a freight to pass by on the 2 foot gauge Port Elizabeth to Patensie line.
By the time I got to South Africa the big Garratts were gone from the mountain passes and working their last miles on the flats between Vryburg and Mafikeng.
