A Norfolk & Western caboose has found its way to Conrail’s Allentown yard, most likely on a Delaware & Hudson train. Class C-9 caboose 557784 was built as Nickel Plate 784.

Spotless CP 434957 is on the tail end of the Dorion Turn as it switches at Dural. In the immediate foreground is the since removed CN/CP interchange track.

An unmistakable Maine Central caboose punctuates a train leaving Rigby Yard in Portland, Maine. The trainman is striking a pose that would probably be frowned on in today’s safety culture.

Not only the can opener, but also the original Conrail reporting marks are still being displayed on this tired caboose now assumed to be owned by CSX.
