Northshore Mining SD40-3 650 is tied down outside the Tailings Loadout at Silver Bay. The tailings, waste rock left over from the processing of raw Taconite are towed to the dump site at MP 7.
654 leads a loaded tailings train through the S curve outside of Silver Bay as it heads to the dump from Silver Bay.
After dumping it's train of tailings, NSM 653 heads back to Silver Bay and crosses over highway 4.
