CSXT A781 works Edgar Minerals, currently the only customer left on this line. Cover hoppers of sand are hauled off. Some sand is also trucked to FEC's Wilbur Wright Branch and transloaded.
The Edgar Branch features rolling hills remains of ancient sand dunes from a time when the sea was higher. The sand is now a main commodity for mining in this area.
Since 1980's I've wanted to get a shot of the local on the Edgar branch. 30 plus years later I finally do it. The route used to connect to Palatka, trimmed back to Edgar in the early 1980's.
