It's hard to beat the rugged looks of a GE C39-8 as evidenced by Conrail 6000 leaning into a curve as it heads west on the ex-Pennsylvania Railroad Middle Division at South Fork, Pa.
CR 6000 leads NS train #117 into Kentucky.
Conrail C39-8 class unit 6000 charges out of Fort Montgomery Tunnel and over Popolopen Creek. You can see the long string of autoracks trailing behind for over a mile up the Hudson.
The 6000 is Conrail's SD35 class unit. The second unit, an Alco Century, demonstrates why an Alco is sometimes called an "honorary steam locomotive".
