The CN 0490 rolls into Crest Hill with a trio of CN C40-8 locomotives living on borrowed time. These were once assigned to the Iron Range in Minnesota.

The days are numbered for this trio of CN C40-8 locomotives from Minnesota's Iron Range as they bring in the CN O490 ballast train to Joliet Yard. This train wound up terminating here.

Having navigated half the S-curve just north of Sparta, MN, CN 2007 will swing to the right for the second half shortly as the trip north to the mine to reload some more iron ore pellets continues... (more)

CN 2007 arriving on U.S. Steel Minntac property to load 145 ore cars with iron ore pellets.

A small thunderstorm cools things off and gets the mosquitoes moving while CN 2007 keeps the iron ore pellets moving heading down the CN Iron Range sub just past the Ramshaw diamond.

Navigating the S-curve, CN 2007 north is making the turn on what was the former DM&N, then DM&IR and now the CN Iron Range Sub passing by the grade of the former D&IR which was abandoned in 1972.
