Five long dirt road miles into the northern Maine woods, I find 450 on its way back to Oakfield approaching St. Croix Road.
A former Amtrak F40PH rebuild in Canadian American paint crosses Garfield Rd. in Masardis.
Heading south past Masardis Trading Post.
The rebuilt F40u's have end platforms for switching; rebuilt fuel tanks and were regeared for freight work. Still lettered for CDAC, these units hopefully will find a new home in the near future.
Ex Amtrak 450 wears a unique paint scheme. The scheme was simplified on the other similar rebuilds.
