These usually came in on the ore train, dumped, and went back to Eagle Mountain. This one apparently had a failure or was there for some sort of maintenance.
Leap day 1996 found LS&I 3007 idling at Trout Lake. WC had leased a number of LS&I U-boats to get them through their annual winter power shortage and most of them tended to stay in Upper Michigan.
Back in L&N days, four-axle power was the norm for most trains on the south end of the railroad, so this power set (2 U30Cs and an SD40) was a good catch as it passed Bell Street tower on its way ... (more)
