Meadow River Lumber Company #6 works at Rainelle, WV in June 1962. This locomotive is preserved and is in operation at Cass Scenic Railroad.
Its time for my annual hirail inspection at the NF&G shops at Rainelle, West Virginia. The engine shop at this remote terminal was still servicing locomotives during this visit.
The facilities at Rainelle have a homey makeshift air about them. Deliveries for the sand tower were made up a long trestle ramp.
Power for the day's trains waits outside the engine house at Rainelle, West Virginia. This is the main terminal for the Nicholas, Fayette and Greenbrier Railroad - a joint C&O/NYC operation.
