Action at the Altoona yard office on the CNW as train #488 has throttled up and begins to head east on the main while SD40-2 power is tied up in the yard off an inbound.

What a deer sees while standing in the woods. You can also see the West end of the Altoona yard on the right. That part of the yard dead ends and also rises above the mainline a bit.

The first snow of the year is lit up by UP 4692 as well as old telegraph poles and bridge down the tracks. At least this snow didn't last through the night.

The crew tied down UP 1995 and CNW 8701 at 7:15 am before heading into the depot on this cold morning.

The severe weather sirens have just alerted the Altoona area of this thunderstorm that has passed over head. The dark rolling clouds gave way to the bright rays of the sun.
