It's New Years Eve, and the Union Pacific Chevron local is running unconventional, long hood forward. I guess they are getting ready for their merger with Norfolk Southern.

Just outside Roper yard. I'm not sure what this local is. I think it might be called the RORO. I do know that UP 693 is a good looking locomotive.

I was able to catch the the Salt Lake Garfield & Western heading west, in the late afternoon. It's always nice to catch the ex Kennecott GP39-2 high cab.

While shooting the BNSF Provo to Stockton, I heard a horn. To my good luck, it was the Salt Lake Garfield & Western emerging from under the bridge.

BNSF 9176 heads west out of town, with a few of downtown Salt Lake landmarks in the distance.
