A pounding rain falls as Western Maryland 1309 leads an evening excursion around Helmstetter’s Curve in La Vale, MD.

I stumbled onto a photo freight at Helmstetter's and just happened to catch 734 coming around the bend before the sun dropped below the mountain.

734 doing what it did for years: hauling passengers up and down the mountain. Here she does that around the famous Helmstetter's Curve.
