Just Do It...

The side isn't as bad as I thought it was, but the nose could use a lot of work. Looks like you got one of the first photos of the first of these ugly ducklings. Alex

Man those things really are ugly!

The best class one paint job just got sorry. I agree the side does not look bad but that nose needs work.

That is gona look soo nice on the Railroad! Very nice job! BNSFrailfan.

What was wrong with the other scheme? They should have three scheme: Heritage I, Heritage I, and Heritage III, which is the red & silver warbonnet. This paint scheme has got to go.

Can't wait to see a H4.....I'll pass on the H3.

Great to see more variety on the BNSF. Glad it didn't turn black and white. Lighten up, lads! Welcome to the 21st Century.

I've gotta agree with BNSFrailfan, I kinda like it. However, something different needs to be done with the nose.

The logo on the front looks absolutely terrible, That engine would look better with a horse slapped onto the front of it. ; )

Did the green turn black? Or is it the weather conditions playing tricks on my eyes?
Posted by on March 8, 2005
Yep, they changed the green to black. That's just less black to paint onto the unit when NS comes in... :D

I was told they are repainting a few dash-9s with this is this true because if they are painting over red and silver warbonnet i might just as well put the camera away because this is terrible like the side isnt to to bad but the nose is terrible

Cal; The red and silver is fading fast, both literally and figuratively. They've been painting the warbonnets into H2 for years now. Joe

Call me crazy, but it's starting to grow on me. I also like the switch to black. The way I see it, I'm all for any more variety out there these days because soon, it will literally all look the same. The only drawback for me on this new paint is, of course, the nose. Maybe it needs whiskers ala Catfish! -- Joe H.

Joesph...Did you ever get a feeling when you paint over a very famous paint scheme?...call me crazy but the red & silver (700-799 & 4700-4719) are still looking like new...as for HII they fade so quickly that you have to repaint it over and over again. Long Live the red & silver...last twice as long as the HII's.

Very nice shot Matt! It doesn't look as bad as I thought it would. :)

I like that angle. It makes it look like it's waiting at the starting line for a race.

Don'tget me wrong. There is nothing like a warbonnet, brand new, faded or somewhere in between, I still love 'em!!! -- Joe H.

"...and BNSF fumbles at the 2-yard line". Just when it seemed a railroad had finally gotten a modern paint scheme right. That logo is absolutely ridiculous - looks like a paint scheme by committee. Jeez, I give up; UP is the only Class 1 worth wasting film on now...

Humm cool doesn't look too bad. Has that nice "new" look to it.

I agree; it does look somewhat nice. That having been said, the H2 is by far better.

I like the little bit of the ex-Conrail unit on the right of the picture.
