Page 68 in Louisville & Nashville Diesel Locomotives, by Castner, Flanary, & Gordon, TLC Publishing, 1998, says 770 is an E6 which was renumbered in 1946 when the L&N broke up the sets originally numbered in the 450s. Page also notes that 770 was donated to Kentucky Railway Museum on 07/01/68. Also, in both that book and Louisville & Nashville Passenger Trains the Pan American Era, 1921-1971, by Castner, Chapman, Dorin, TLC Publishing, 1999, not one E6 has a nose door while the pictured E7s do. One of the books mentions the original small E6 numberboards being changed during shoppings in a date range but right now I can't find it.
