There's a dark side to the J's whistle. N&W apparently placed it down in the shroud deliberately so it was not so loud. It sounds much better liberated. I remember as a child hearing people talk about deadly the Js were because you couldn't hear them coming. Wouldn't tort attorneys have a field day with that now.
