Great catch and what a scene! Everything looks well worn or in need of maintenance in this photo (typical for Rock Island), including the buildings, except for the clothing.

Well , the lights r still working and the train crews still have a job. Those engines could use a bath but are doing just fine. A little dirt goes a long way on this great photo and adds to the realism of railroading and the conditions that trains endure on their journeys. The weather is pretty ruff out that way in winter.
