This part of the railroad was awarded an FRA grant for track rehabilitation. However, the work was not scheduled to start until early 2026.

Well nuts. Bad enough to derail. Then add that the cars are loaded, with ballast. And the irony that dumping rock in this area was actually in the plans. As Maxwell Smart would say, "Missed it by 'that' much!
