Thanks Robert for another great view of the Milwaukee Road electrification and facilities.

I echo Bob. This scene is somber and historic, priceless.

View of S side w/stall #’s 9 - 17 (Rt.-to Lt.), and partial (near/SSE) end of the 107 ft. turntable (to Lt.). Front/cab end of SD-7 #502 appeared-to-be in stall #14 where Lt. door was open, this was a North Montana Line unit and the third of that production model built w/an in-service date of 02-May-1952 (EMD #15614, CMStP&P #2202, re-#’d on 25-Jul-1959). A brick firewall separated stall #’s 12 & 13, w/the latter through #17 (ea.) were initially 120 ft. long to accommodate the S-2 4-8-4 ?Northern” types delivered-in 1937-38 (@ 107 ft., 9¾ in. overall length, their pilots and tender couplers ea. overhung the turntable ends by just-under 5 in. but their overall wheelbase of ½ in. over 96 ft. would easily ?fit” on the bridge). Also, the turntable had a spring-loaded drum above the center pivot w/about 250 ft. of insulted (wrapped) 4/0 stranded copper cable w/380V-DC to move electric locos (or ?motors”) to/from the roundhouse and lead tracks. Those five stalls remain @ present (#17 was extended 80 ft. in 1943 for the FT A/B/B/A sets), while rails remain embedded-in the concrete floor for stall #’s 6 & 8 - 12 but the turntable (pit filled-in) and all other trackage is removed.
