Not enough head end traffic to be the Grand Canyon

Look at the class operation Santa Fe was running, even up to the advent of Amtrak. Clean, streamlined and probably on-time, all the way. This was the last gasp of passenger service as we once knew it. Highball!

I think if you lookup Grand Canyon after mail reductions of October 1967 you will find something similar esp 69-71. Santa Fe wanted to Drop train but had to keep it on till end. As an example; https://www.railpictures.net/photo/246989/

Aside-of "typo" for year under "Date of Photo" (should be "1970" account ATK began operations on May 1, 1971), the head-end traffic had vanished following then-USPO's cancellation of mail contracts three years earlier.
