I live a couple of miles south from the old coaling tower on CSX's KD Subdivision. Further north is the tunnel as pictured. My property is beside the CSX ROW and on occasion, I will take a walk up the tracks to the tower and the tunnel making a day of it. Even though walking the tracks is considered trespassing, I been doing so for over 50 years but no one or CSX employee ever said anything. I will not walk through the tunnel for safety reasons. Track walking is a lot different than riding in a car. You get to see scenery, Clear Fork River, flora, and fauna that is not seen from the Highway 25W. And of course you get to see the trains going by. You know they are coming when you hear that deep growling sound of those diesel engines, the screech of steel wheels making contact with the rails, the train horns, and the braking sounds. Standing beside the tunnel entrance, the sounds of the train in the tunnel are intensified. And, since trains are a lot longer with DPU's scattered about, you get a longer viewing time of the train pulling those grades. What a show it is!!
