Posted by Patrick McColgan on May 16, 2025  To answer your question, the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation (the new BNSF parent company) obtained control of ATSF's and BN's parent companies on September 22, 1995, but the two railroads did not formally merge until December 31, 1996.
