The track layout of the Covington mainline and yard has hardly changed since the 1950s, due in large part to the yard's mission of serving the large paper mill shown in the background. Two generations of Covington passenger stations remain, as shown, the newer now a museum. And even the westbound passenger platform, not used since the end of the Covington-Hot Springs mixed trains in 1969, and the eastbound passenger platform, not used since 1971, remain in place.
