I was on that trip. They turned the 2716 at Charlottesville (on C&O turntable...old stomping grounds for 2716) but not the train. That's the open ob's car Lookout Mountain behind the tender. The coal pile was topped off at Charlottesville, and until enough of it got used, pieces of coal were rolling off the top of the tender, bouncing off the ballast and up against the open sides of that ob's. They felt like bee-stings. Ahhh, memories.
