Superb effort there, Herr Trüb! A very remote area, accessible only over 7¼ mi.(11.67 km) of rutted, rocky, steep, twisted obtuse-cornered tire-puncturing, axle-busting, driveline-snapping trails from I-76’s Rabbit Valley interchange (exit No. 2, appropriately-signed “No Services”) winding w/in ½ mi. (0.65 km) E-of the Utah/Colorado states’ line. Such traces are to be avoided if there’s any sign of adverse weather; and not-to-mention infestations of rattlers and scorpions from March through November in any given year . . . Switzerland it ain’t! Bungalows for signals @ E switch of Utaline siding (UP Salt Lake Area Green River “sub” CP RG482 by M/p 482.5, W switch is about 90 ft. E/b from the states’ line @ M/p 483.9) can be made-out w/in 5 car-lengths W/b from rear dpu (SD-70ACe #8336). Contour lines on USGS’ 2014 Bitter Creek Well, UT 1:24,000 topo’ map (ref. https://ngmdb.usgs.gov/topoview/viewer/#15/39.1316/-109.0289) shows over 200 ft. (65 m) elevation difference from the RR to that “overlook” site, directly NW and across the Colorado R. from Knowles Canyon’s entrance.

When I was planning a trip from Denver to San Franciso with 2 friends, this viewpoint somehow ended up on my wish list. As all three of us like beautiful desert landscapes and trains, we included it firmly in our itinerary and informed ourselves as precisely as possible about the conditions for getting there. It all worked out perfectly, but unfortunately the weather was only semi-beautiful.
