Never particularly cared for those headlights but NP made sure crews could tell what the engine number was. Nicely proportioned locomotive.

That is an awkward-looking locomotive. Did they extend the smoke box forward at some point in its life-cycle? Because the stack looks like it's too far back.

Probably to handle that dirt with an attitude known as Bitteroot coal.
