Hey Craig, rode the SW Chief last spring and it was a 'class act'! meals, on-board service - BNSF even gave us priority to try to make-up some lost time to KC. I'd call it a 'purpose served'... ;) Although not on totally the Chili Sub - it was a great experience nonetheless. And thanks for your recent posts too - always enjoy them.

Rode the Chief From Chicago to LA round trip in April 77. Started in Cleveland to Chicago on Friday, and was it ever cold. The car we got on was overheating as steam was used to heat the cars. Walked into another car and had a good trip from there on. Spent a week in California with a friend on Rail Pass for $105 which was to last 30 days. Conductor didn't seem too happy that we were traveling by Rail Pass.
