Those would be 20 cylinder behemoths (SD45s used a 20 cylinder 654 diesel, 16 would be SD40s).

Weren't SD45s V20 engines?

I never knew NS had SD45's as slug mothers. And Sid, I know you know that SD45's are powered by V-20's, so I'm not sure if NS had SD45's repowered with V-16's, like Morrison Knudsen did for the Southern Pacific in the 1990's.
