Always wondered how they got the coal from the tender to the firebox. I assume some kind of conveyor contraption.

I think these may have been oil fired only, not coal burning?

That is correct all of the cab forwards were oil fired. You can tell by looking at the tender it has an oil tank, not a coal bunker. I agree love the articulated cab forwards of the Southern Pacific. I have even been told the weight distribution worked in favor of the cab forwards. The down side is it put the engine crew and much greater risk in the event of a collision.
