Wonder if while it was in USN service it ever was in proximity of USS Essex aircraft carrier - would be kind of neat if it went from being near The Essex to landing In Essex. And while we're talking Essex, look up a poem titled "Lay of the lost traveler", written by a notable 1800s Vermont fellow, in which an incident at Essex Junction is foundation of the poem's plot.
