The observation car is the former NYC 49, which went to Kansas City Southern, then into several private ownerships (during which time it was supposed to have been the 48), before becoming a MARC business car. MARC subsequently donated it to the museum. In its NYC days, it often worked the Cincinnati-Chicago "James Whitcomb Riley."

Likely saw the Observation car pass on the Riley during my days working at Storrs Jct during the Summer of 1966. Storrs Jct is where Big 4 trackage crossed over the B&O to enter/depart Cincinnati Union Station.
