I read some time ago that the New Have alignment from New York up to Boston would make 13 complete circles from all the combined curvature.

There's a good deal more "high speed" running on the Amtrak owned portion east of New Haven, CT, but Metro North doesn't allow Amtrak to use the "tilt" technology of the Acela trains on the CDOT/MTA owned Metro North portion of the "Corridor" between New Rochelle, NY and New Haven, CT due to fear that the "tilted" trains might hit trains on adjacent tracks. So the speed LIMIT is no higher for "Acela" trains on the Metro North portion of the "Corridor" than it is for other Amtrak and Metro North trains. Only reason their running time is better is due to fewer stops (Acelas make only Stamford and New Haven, and some even skip the Stamford stop, while other Amtrak trains generally make Stamford, Bridgeport and New Haven).
