MAIL 9 and MAIL 3 during this period typically sported 6-unit (double) power sets. Some days they would see only 3-unit sets, and occasionally 4 or 5 units. 12 units was certainly out of the ordinary! After MAIL 9 and MAIL 3 were combined out of South Kearny (the combined train running as MAIL 3, with a MAIL 9 schedule running out of Morrisville, PA instead), MAIL 3 would often see 9 and 10 unit power sets (and this was also after the reign of 4-axle power was coming to an end, so they sported much more 6-axle power).
