Has CSX added additional traffic to the Bow Line/

Currently we are getting two extra trains a day for a total of four. Occasionally, CSX will send an oddball reroute this way as well. CSX is dumping a lot of money in the Bowline. There is talk of siding extensions and even dispatcher controlled signalling in some spots. As we understand it, the Bowline would take some trains off the Fitzgerald Sub on a permanent basis.

Back in the 1990's the CSX thought process was to do away with the Bow Line as a through route and have ALL traffic on the Lineville and Fitzgerald subs. Had a Directors Inspection Train originate out of Birmingham one day at 6 AM. Made the turn a Manchester on time - and then got in the flow on the Fitzgerald Sub behind 5 freight trains with no way to get around ANY OF THEM because all the sidings on the subdivision were full of Northbounds. Inspection trains got to Waycross about 5 AM and its 'passengers' deserted like rats off a sinking ship to get highway transportation to Jacksonville. Next day through trains got scheduled on the Bow Line.

Excellent story. The Bowline has had the cat's nine lives. The current administration is looking at the Bowline favorably but that could change tomorrow.
