Any ideas on how I can prove that I'm not in a time loop and this isn't in a 1970s Model Railroader in April?

That is one neat looking plow. I agree, no complaints on the Empire Builder scheme. Looks very sharp

Does it move under its own power, or does it have to be pushed by another unit?

I'm not sure if it does, but it would appear to be able to run on its own. The rotary in Wenatchee was always mated with an F7 or F9 B unit. This plow has a full size fuel tank and power trucks. and appears to have a 2000 HP diesel engine.

Sure messes up the axle count at a detector.

I just realized something. The rear truck is an EMD Geep Truck, but on the front, is a EMD ACe truck, any reasoning for that?

Weight distribution would be my guess. As I recall NKP had some 5 axle tenders and FM build some 5 axle locomotives.
