Interesting cargo behind one of the FT sets. Could be some sort of refinery pressure vessel. It looks like it is spread across 2 flatcars.

I believe back then dead engines where ship dead in train, if they where coupled to the train power they would become reasonability of the engine crew. Then the engine crew would get weight on drivers or the railroad would have to add a fireman to monitor those engines. It all depend on the vest pocket agreement that each railroad had.
