That's one of the many things I don't like about the BN-ATSF and UP-SP mergers from a railfan perspective: both combined a fleet that was distinctive in a somewhat similar way (lots of older EMDs, especially 45-series, and lots of late 4-axle) with a somewhat larger fleet heavy on commonplace SD40-2s, eradicating the distinctiveness of the former.
