Great shot Craig. I always had an affection for these beasts. I got to see them but never out on the road.

There is a "City of Industry" south of Canton, Ohio. When those C415s came out I wanted to model one, but after a while I didn't care for them any longer. Funny how we see things when new and later we decide differently on how we think. And didn't they have two engines for power, one on both sides of the cab?

According to the book "The Diesel's First 50 Years" (by Louis A. Marre, White River Publishing, 2012, ISBN 978-1-937001-01-8), the longer hood has the prime mover (the diesel engine), and the shorter hood contains "auxiliaries." I assume auxiliaries are air compressors, possibly the DC generator and, maybe, the stereo system. (OK, that last one is not likely.). Perhaps others smarter than I regarding diesel innards can weigh in...
