I must say that photos like these intrigue me. It does cause one to ponder why the railroad would pull up a line and yet leave the infrastructure in place, and as mentioned, still on-line and "active"? Another thought I have is wondering if a dispatcher somewhere still has this signal showing on his board, and still has control of it? I know if it were me at that board, I'd switch the signal on occasion to line a train through just for laughs. Being a "rail-to-trail", I'd chuckle at the possible reaction some person on the trail might have if they were there at the signal when it changed.
