What does those (K and W) letters, on the side numbers, stand for?
I always liked high-hood locomotives, but these probably, may be "difficult to drive" due to lacking visibility (field of view), right?

The letters were a Southern numbering convention, set up based on a formula to ensure that locomotive numbers could not be wrongly entered into manifest or other documents. The formula can be found on the Internet.
