Beautiful photo, Rick, and thank you to Steve Lee, the UP steam program is what it is today. 3985 has also been affectionately known as "Steve's Engine" and was cared for as well as 844. Unfortunately, the new Manager of Steam Operations for UP announced in 2019 (I believe) that 3985 was officially retired (again) and will be sadly, stuffed and mounted on static display in a park upon final decisions are made as to when to do that. I think in honor of Steve Lee and what he did for the Union Pacific Steam Program and Public Relations, that Union Pacific should keep and restore that locomotive in his memory and honor of thanks! But that is only my opinion, and I am not happy about it being forgotten and let go again.

Too bad abut it being retired again. It would be neat to see it double headed with the 4014
