Posted by Jeff Sell on October 17, 2021  Here is an example as to why a 4-8-4 is also referred to as a 'Northern'. The 'Northern' Pacific ordered 4-8-4's and the term stuck to this class. Just read this recently in a train magazine that featured an article about the Baldwin Locomotive Works. Thanks for sharing this gem.
