James - I apologize for commenting so late, this is the first time I've seen this photo. First, THANK YOU for your service to our country. I am the son of a U.S. Army Veteran myself - my father was a Front Line Combat Medic in Korea from 1951 - 1953. After he got home, he joined the Ohio Nat'l Guard and served a long 32 years in the military. I remember the weeks he would be gone for "Drill" up in Grayling, MI. He'd come home late at night while us kids were asleep, and the next morning we'd find a Jeep, or a Deuce-and-a-half in the Driveway as being a Sergeant, he was able to get away with driving those home. One time he brought the Troop Bus home. I hope you didn't get too cold in New York since y'all were from Georgia, but that's the Army for you. Prepare you for EVERYTHING and yet, you aren't prepared enough. Excellent photo sir, and it brings back a LOT of happy memories of my father and the "surprises" we'd find in our driveway as kids.
